[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동두천시종합자원봉사센터 소속 자원봉사단체 국제피플투피플 동두천챕터는 지난 26일 미2사단 영내 운동장에서 PTP회원 25명, 미군 KC시설사령부 장병 25명, 지역아동센터 원장 등 60여 명이 참여한 가운데 경기도 지원사업 ‘도민이 전하는 자원봉사 활동’을 실시했다고 밝혔다. 

이날 행사는 지난 5월에 이어 두 번째 진행됐으며, 봉사자들은 며칠 전부터 도시락 메뉴를 정하고 음식 재료와 요리도구를 미2사단 안으로 운반했으며 아이들이 좋아하는 짜장소스, 너겟, 치킨, 김말이, 떡꼬치, 소시지 꼬치 튀김과 밥, 과일, 음료, 떡을 고루 담은 영양만점 도시락 300개를 완성했다. 

특히 아이들에게 인기가 좋은 캐릭터빵 300개를 준비해 큰 호응을 얻었다. 

이에 지역아동센터 연합회에서는 감사의 의미로 김밥과 호박 식혜를 준비해와 봉사에 참여한 미군 장병들에게 대접했다. 

박선영 지역아동센터 연합회장은 “PTP와 미군장병들이 이 더운 날씨에 불 앞에서 튀기고 볶으며 아이들을 위한 도시락을 정성껏 준비해주셔서 정말 감동받았고 감사한 마음이다. 아이들이 맛있게 먹고 건강하게 자랄 수 있을 것 같다. 특히 미군 아저씨들이 만들어줘서 잊지 못할 추억이 될 것 같다”고 소감을 전했다. 

한편, PTP는 미군장병과 함께 지역의 소외된 장애인과 아동센터 아동을 위한 봉사 활동 프로그램을 꾸준히 전개하고 있으며 할로윈 아동 초청행사, 김장 나눔 행사 등 미군과 함께 지역사회 나눔 및 소통 연계에 최선을 다하고 있다.
