의정부시는 체계적인 운영을 위해 도시농업 교육을 운영하여 도시농업관리사를 배출하고 있으며, 학교별로 도시농업전문가를 배정하여 수업을 진행한다고 했다.

스쿨팜 사업은 농업을 접할 기회가 적은 도시의 학생들에게 일상에서 직접 농업을 체험할 기회를 제공하며, 교내 유휴부지나 자투리 공간에 텃밭을 조성한 후, 직접 작물을 심고 수확하는 체험을 통해 농업의 소중함과 성취감을 느낄 수 있는 교육적 가치가 큰 사업이라고 전했다.

정희종 도시농업과장은 “코로나와 학업에 지친 학생들이 스쿨팜 사업을 통해 농사의 기쁨을 느끼고 힐링의 기회를 얻을 수 있기를 바라며 많은 학교의 동참을 당부한다”고 밝혔다.
