[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 2월 9일까지, 화천군이 2022년도 키즈영어 아카데미, 초등영어 아카데미, 중등영어 아카데미 수강신청 접수 및 수강생을 모집한다고 밝혔다. 

대상은 화천지역 아동으로, 키즈영어는 5~7세 미취학 아동, 초등영어는 초등 1~6학년 재학생, 중등영어는 중학교 1학년 학생이면 신청할 수 있으며, 신청은 평생학습 수강신청 시스템을 통해 온라인으로 선착순 접수를 받고, 중등영어 아카데미 수강생은 레벨 테스트 등을 거쳐 선발된다고 했다. 

각 아카데미 개강은 오는 3월2일부터 12월23일까지, 41주 간 열린다고 했다. 

키즈영어는 화천어린이도서관과 사내도서관, 초등영어는 화천학습센터와 글로벌 교육센터, 사내종합문화센터, 사내 청소년 문화의 집에서 진행되며, 화천군 외국어 아카데미는 학부모들의 자녀 외국어 교육비 부담을 덜어주고 있어 큰 호응을 얻고 있다고 전했다. 

화천군의 외국어 학습지원 시스템은 테스트를 거쳐 수준별로 진행되며, 5~7세 미취학 아동은 키즈영어 아카데미, 초등학생은 초등영어 아카데미에 참여해 초급부터 고급까지 맞춤형 수업에 참여할 수 있고, 단순한 학습을 넘어 핼로윈과 추수감사절 등 해당 국가의 문화도 체험하고, 지난해에는 초등학생 100명이 영어능력평가 인증시험 급수를 전원 획득하는 등 성과도 내고 있다고 했다. 

최문순 화천군수는 “화천의 아이들이 최고수준의 외국어 교육을 받을 수 있도록 올해도 내실있는 아카데미를 운영하겠다”고 밝혔다.
