[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 의정부시장애인체육회는 장애인이 언제 어디서나 편리하게 스포츠 활동에 참여할 수 있는 체육복지 실현을 위해 현장에서 다양한 노력을 하고 있다고 밝혔다.

 

의정부시장애인체육회는 2011년 6월에 설립해 2012년 7월, 장애인체육회 사무국을 개소했으며, 초대 회장은 의정부시장이 당연직 회장으로 당시 종목별 가맹단체는 6개로 출범해 현재는 11개의 가맹단체가 활동하고 있다고 전했다.

 

장애를 체육으로 승화시키는 2만 2천여 명의 의정부시 장애인의 스포츠 활동을 담당하는 막중한 임무를 가지고 장애인 체육발전을 위한 재정 확보와 체육시설 확충 및 활용을 통해 의정부시 장애인의 건강 증진을 위해 노력하고 있다고 했다.

 

의정부시장애인체육회는 장애인 스포츠인들의 오랜 숙원으로 2011년 6월 23일 창립총회를 통해 설립되어, 이듬해 2012년 7월 2일 사무국을 개소해 장애인 체육 행정을 시작했다고 전했다.

 

초대 권재형 사무국장으로 시작 2대 박래환, 3대 이영수, 현재 4대 김흥수 사무국장 아래 사무국 행정직원 2인, 장애인생활체육지도자 2인으로 운영을 하고 있으며, 산하 종목별 가맹단체는 11개가 가입됐고, 장애유형별 단체는 5개가 활동하고 있으며, 또한 각 분야의 다양한 의견을 수렴하여 행정에 반영하고 있고, 소통과 배려를 기본으로 하여 그 외 전문성 및 투명성 확보를 위해 각종 위원회를 구성해 운영하고 있다고 했다.

의정부시장애인체육회는 장애인의 생활체육 저변 확대를 위해서 의정부시 어울림등반대회, 시장배 장애인생활체육대회, 시장배 장애인탁구대회, 시장배 장애인 배드민턴 대회 등을 개최하고 있다고 전했다.

 

의정부시는 장애인 육상의 메카로 우수한 육상 선수들이 많으며 신기록을 보유한 f53 조한구 선수도 있으며, 이러한 의정부의 우수한 장애인 선수를 바탕으로 2013년 경기도장애인체육대회에서 의정부가 준우승을 차지하는 기염을 토했고, 그 외에도 전국장애인체육대회에 출전해 경기도가 우승을 하는데 큰 기여를 하고 있다고 했다.

의정부시장애인체육회는 대한장애인체육회 및 경기도장애인체육회에서 실시하는 공모사업을 추진해 적극적으로 생활체육의 저변 확대를 위해 노력하고 있다고 전했다.

 

2015년부터 시작한 공모사업은 행정복지센터를 거점으로하는 장애인스포츠교실, 소외계층의 스포츠활동을 독려하는 소외계층 교실, 장애인 클럽을 지원 하는 클럽 사업, 생활체육 종목별 대회로 보치아 및 당구 대회를 운영 하고 있으며, 이러한 노력을 바탕으로 2019년 경기도장애인체육회에서 실시한 31개 시·군 장애인체육회 평가에서 2위를 차지했고, 장애인 생활체육 우수사례 시·군평가에서 3위에 선정됐다고 했다.

 

앞으로도 의정부시 장애인체육회는 공모사업을 적극 이용한 생활체육 확대 및 시 자체 체육교실을 운영할 계획이고, 또한 김흥수 사무국장이 계획하는 장애인의 인식개선과 장애인체육의 홍보차원으로 후원 나눔을 계획하는 등 다양한 인프라를 구축 할 예정이라고 했다.

의정부시장애인체육회는 관내 장애인시설 및 기관에 찾아가는 생활체육 서비스를 실시하고 있다고 전했다.
