[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 8월 3일 의정부시 송산1동 주민센터에서는 고독사 위기가구를 발굴하여 즉각적인 응급의료에서부터 주거환경 개선까지 원스톱으로 처리했다고 밝혔다.

지난 7월 29일 송산1동 주민센터 보건복지팀은 거동을 하지 못하고 돌보는 가족이 없어 방치된 상태의 주민이 있다는 제보를 받고 즉시 현장으로 가정방문을 했으며, 방문 당시 대상자는 거동을 아예 하지 못했고, 집안은 온갖 쓰레기로 뒤덮여 악취와 벌레가 들끓는 등 모든 상황이 심각한 상태였으며, 119의 도움으로 대상자는 인근 병원으로 긴급이송을 진행하여 다행히 고비를 넘기고 의식을 회복하는 중이라고 말했다.

이후 지난 8월 3일에는 (사)국제자원봉사협회 회원들의 협조를 받아 대상자의 집안 내부에 넘쳐나는 쓰레기와 오물을 모두 수거하고 청소하는 등 주거환경 개선은 물론 소독 방역까지 철저하게 진행했다고 했다.

조신현 국제자원봉사협회 회장은 “회원들 모두 심한 악취와 무더운 날씨로 힘든 봉사활동이었지만, 대상자가 깨끗한 환경에서 건강하게 생활하실 것을 생각하니 기쁘다”고 말했다.
