[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 의정부시 시장 안병용은 의정부어린이도서관이 개관 14주년을 맞이하여 노후시설 개선과 내부 공간 재구성을 위해 오는 6월 1일부터 12월 31일까지(예정) 임시 휴관한다고 밝혔다.

이번 공사는 문화체육관광부 문화시설 확충 사업(공공도서관 건립 지원)에 선정된 데 따른 것으로, 국비 6억 8천만 원과 시비 10억 2천만 원을 투입해 노후시설을 개선하고, 최신 도서관 경향에 맞는 복합문화공간으로 재구성할 계획이라고 했다.

도서관 지하 1층부터 지상 3층까지 전 층의 천장, 바닥, 벽면 공사는 물론, 열린 공간을 위한 자료실 구획 조정 등 전면 리모델링 공사로 인한 소음, 진동, 분진 발생과 안전사고를 예방하기 위해 공사기간 중 도서관을 폐쇄하며, 이에 따라 도서 대출 반납 및 예약, 상호대차, 희망도서, 문화행사 및 강좌 등 이용자 서비스 역시 중단된다고 했다. 

다만, 공사기간 중에도 북스타트 책꾸러미는 4개 공공도서관(과학·정보·미술·가재울)을 통해 배부하고, 6월 3일에 개관하는 음악도서관은 7월부터 책꾸러미를 배부할 예정이라고 했다. 

한편, 재개관 일정은 상황에 따라 변경될 수 있으니 12월 말 어린이도서관 홈페이지 공지사항을 참고하고, 기타사항은 도서관운영과 어린이도서관팀으로 문의하면 된다고 전했다.
