벽화거리는 옛 시장터의 역사적 특징을 활용하여 전통시장의 정겨운 모습과 각종 풍속도, 아름다운 색채의 3가지 테마로 조성됐다고 했다.

강성모 내촌면장은 “벽화거리가 조성된 내1리 마을의 전통시장은 50여년 동안 내촌주민들의 삶의 일부분이자 옛 정취를 떠올리게 하는 곳이다.”라며 “과거 활기찼던 전통시장의 분위기를 되살리고 이와 더불어 코로나19로 인한 답답한 마음을 조금이나마 치유하는 계기가 되었으면 좋겠다.”고 밝혔다.
