[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양양군이 지역 농어촌버스 이용객들의 편의를 위해 버스 승차 알림시스템을 버스승강장 10개소에 설치한다고 밝혔다.

군은 3,250만원을 투입해 오는 5월초까지 버스승차 알림시스템을 지역 내 10개소에 설치해 대중교통의 질을 개선하고 교통약자의 편의를 향상시킬 계획이라고 했다.

버스승차 알림시스템은 버스 무정차를 방지하기 위한 것으로 승강장 안에 설치되어 있는 벨을 누르면 승강장에 설치된 LED 탑승 알림등이 켜져 버스기사에게 승차 유무를 알게 해주는 서비스이며, 그동안 우천, 무더위, 추위, 야간 시간 등 승차 대기자가 승강장에 대기하고 있음에도 버스가 대기자를 인지하지 못하고 그냥 지나치는 사례가 발생하는 등 불편함이 제기돼 왔다고 전했다.

이에 군은 내달 초까지 7번국도변 주변 이용객이 많은 버스승강장 10개소에 승차알림을 설치할 계획이며, 지난해에도 양양중학교 앞, 양양고등학교 앞, 강현농협 앞, 홈마트 앞 등 5개소에 승차 알림시스템을 설치해 운전기사와 이용자 간 소통을 통해 버스 이용 편의가 향상되었다는 평가라고 했다.

최 정 전략교통과장은 “이번 버스 승차 알림 서비스를 통해 농어촌버스를 이용하는 주민들이 좀 더 쉽고 편리하게 이용할 수 있기를 바란다.”며, “앞으로 지속적으로 시스템을 설치나갈 계획이며, 버스 기사님들의 안전 운행에도 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.”고 말했다.
