영농폐기물은 배출과 보관과정에서 농경지 주변이나 들판 곳곳에 방치돼 농촌 경관을 해치는 것은 물론, 불법 소각 등으로 인한 산불 발생과 토양·하천 오염의 주범으로 심각한 환경오염의 원인으로 지적되고 있으며, 이에 군은 영농과정에서 발생하는 폐비닐 등의 영농폐기물 수거 활성화를 도모하고 농촌 지역 환경개선을 위해 예산 2억 2천만 원을 들여 올해 6월 말까지 32개소 영농폐비닐 공동 집하장을 개선 및 신규설치를 완료할 계획이라고 전했다.

영농폐비닐 공동 집하장은 바람에 의한 날림을 방지하고 수거 차량의 접근이 용이하며, 개폐식 출입문을 설치해 쓰레기 투기를 방지하여 영농폐기물을 깨끗하게 수집·보관할 수 있다고 했다.

전원표 환경위생과장은 “수거 취약지역을 대상으로 폐비닐 수거장 설치를 지속적으로 확대, 보완하여 농촌의 미관을 살리고 쾌적한 농촌환경을 조성하겠다.”고 말했다.
