[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 최근 건조한 날씨와 강풍으로 전국적으로 다량의 산불이 발생하는 등 산불 위험성이 고조되고 있는 가운데 속초시는 봄철 대형산불 조심기간(3. 5. ~ 4. 17.)을 맞아 산불방지를 위해 대형산불 특별대책을 수립하고 산불예방활동에 총력을 기울일 계획이라고 밝혔다.

속초시는 지난 1월 본격적인 산불조심기간에 앞서 선제적으로 산불전문예방진화대 35명을 선발 배치했으며 속초·고성·양양 3개 시·군에서 공동 임차한 산불진화헬기 1대도 즉각적인 공중진화 지원을 위해 1월 10일부터 관내에 계류 중이라고 전했다. 

지난 2월 1일부터는 산불예방 감시원 70명을 산불취약지 중심으로 배치하여 봄철 산불예방체계를 구축했으며, 양간지풍의 강한 바람이 불어오는 3월부터는 대형산불 발생 위험이 전국적으로 고조됨에 따라 주ㆍ야간 감시원 36명을 긴급 추가 선발 배치했다고 했다. 

아울러 3월 5일부터는 산림연접 13개 마을 통장 및 관내 5개 자율방범대 등 사회단체를 통한 민간협력 산불예방활동 등을 통해 산불 사전예방 활동을 강화해 나가고 있다고 했다.
