이번 실무추진단은 임성원 부시장을 추진단장으로 일자리‧경제, 입주‧정착, 공동체활력제고, 정주여건개선, 저출산‧보육의 5개 분과로 나누어 11명 부서장과 32명 담당, 35명 팀원으로 총 78명이 구성됐다고 했다.

실무추진단은 2022년 인구감소지역 통합지원사업 공모 대응과 지방소멸대응기금사업을 위한 태백시 인구활력사업계획(5개년) 검토, 신규 투자사업 발굴, 시도 지원사업, 중앙정부 국고보조사업 연계 사업 발굴 등 인구활력 증진사업을 추진해 나갈 계획이라고 했다. 

태백시는 발족식을 갖고 실무추진단 회의를 열어 5개 분과별로 앞으로의 계획 및 검토과제 등에 대하여 의견청취 시간을 갖고 분과별 회의를 1월 중에 개최하여 태백시 인구활력 투자계획에 반영할 과제를 선정하기로 했다고 전했다.
