[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 포천시는 2022년 임인년(壬寅年)에도 차별 없는 보편적 교육복지 실현을 위해 무상교복·무상교육·무상급식으로 이어지는 ‘포천시 교육복지 3무(無) 정책’을 지속적으로 추진한다고 밝혔다.

지난 2020년 정부의 무상교육에서 제외되는 고등학교 1학년 학생의 교육비를 선제적으로 지원하며 ‘경기도 유일’ 고등학교 전면 무상교육을 시행한 포천시는 올해도 어김없이 교육 기본권 실현을 위하여 관내 고등학교 7개교, 2,300여 명의 학생을 대상으로 3억5천만 원의 교육비를 지원할 예정이라고 했다.

각 가정의 교육비 부담 완화를 위하여 민선 7기 주요 공약사업으로 추진 중인 무상교복 지원과 관련하여 총 2,000여 명의 중·고등학교 신입생을 대상으로 1억5천만 원의 예산을 지원하며, 특히 작년부터는 정규학교 외 대안교육 기관의 중·고등학교 신입생까지 무상교복 지원 대상의 폭을 넓혀 해당 지원으로부터 소외되는 학생이 발생하지 않도록 보다 세밀한 주의를 기울이고 있다고 전했다.

올해 관내 유초중고 학생 총 1만 2700여 명에게 포천시는 24억 원의 예산을 편성하여 각 학교에 무상급식비를 지원하는데, 이는 작년 본예산 기준 2억 원이 추가 편성된 예산으로 포천시 관내 학생들이 보다 양질의 식재료로 식사를 하게 되었다는 의미이고, 또한 경기도 농수산진흥원을 통해 일반 식재료 및 가공식품이 아닌 친환경 식재료 또는 친환경 원료로 제조한 가공식품을 공급받는 경우 그에 대한 지원을 할 수 있도록 추가로 4억 원의 예산을 편성하여 우리 관내 학생들이 보다 안전하고 건강한 식생활을 영위할 수 있도록 지원하고 있다고 했다.

박윤국 포천시장은 “포천시는 시민 모두가 출발선부터 공정하고 공평한 교육 기회를 누릴 수 있도록 기반을 다져 거듭된 혁신으로, 미래 100년을 향한 끊임없는 도전을 계속해나가겠다”라고 밝혔다.
