이번 컨설팅의 참여대상은 연면적 3만㎡ 이상의 이마트 등 6개소로 화재 발생 시 자위소방대의 역할의 중요성을 알리고 초기 소화능력을 높이기 위해 실시했다고 전했다.

기존 “불끄기” 중심의 자위소방대 운영에서 벗어나 건물 특성에 맞는 자위소방대를 조직하고, 개인별 임무표 및 배치도를 작성 및 게시함으로써 유사시 초기 대응체계 활성화를 위한 기준과 절차 자료를 제공했다고 밝혔다.

양주소방서에 따르면 화재가 났을 경우, 초기소화가 실패하고 피난유도 등 초등대응이 미흡할 경우 많은 인명피해가 발생할 수 있다고 했다.

컨설팅에 나선 양주소방서 재난예방과 관계자는 “자위소방대가 적극적으로 활동한다면, 가정, 직장, 생명을 조금 더 안전하게 보호할 수 있을 것”이라고 전했다.
