[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 14일 북부지방산림청은 홍천군 내면 자운리에서 북부지방산림청 및 국립산림과학원 관련 전문가 등이 참석한 가운데 도로변 등 가시권 내에서 효과적인 목재수확 방법 마련을 위해 ‘2021년 목재수확 시범사업 현장토론회’를 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 현장토론회에서는 새로운 목재수확 방법, 존치목 적정 본수, 작업방법, 벌채산물 효율적 수집 및 처리방안, 후계림 조성 후 존치목 육성과 병행한 목재생산 방향 설정 등에 대해서 중점적으로 논의했다고 했다.

북부지방산림청에서는 이번 현장토론회 결과를 토대로, 홍천군 내면 자운리에 위치한 임야 13.5ha를 대상으로 도로변 등 가시권에서 산림 생태계를 보전하고 산림경관을 유지하면서 목재를 수확하는 시범사업을 실시할 계획이라고 전했다.

최수천 북부지방산림청장은 “최근 2050 탄소중립 산림부문 추진전략과 관련하여 목재수확에 대한 우려의 목소리가 나오는 상황에서 이번 현장토론회를 통해 새로운 목재수확 방법을 마련하여 친환경 목재수확 사업이 현장에 적용될 수 있도록 지속적으로 발굴해 나가겠다.”라고 말했다.
