[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 2일과 16일 양일간 양주시는 경기섬유종합지원센터에서 지속가능한 지구를 위한 시민교육 ‘2021년 양주시민 아카데미’를 성황리에 개최했다고 밝혔다. 

이번 아카데미는 전 세계적 감염병 확산과 기후변화, 각종 사회문제와 양극화 현상이 심화됨에 따라 시민교육을 통해 공동체 의식을 함양하고 사회문제에 적극적으로 참여하는 시민을 양성하기 위해 마련했으며 생태와 환경을 주제로 한 명사 초청 강연으로 진행됐다고 말했다.

지난 2일 진행한 ‘잠시멈춤, 지속가능한 내일을 위한 에코시민교육’은 배우 박진희와 함께 환경 전문강사 이명숙이 공동 강연 진행으로 환경문제에 대해 공감하고 생활 속 환경보호를 위한 실천 방법에 대해 이야기를 나눴다고 했다. 

지난 16일에는 ‘생태적 전환, 슬기로운 지구생활을 위하여’라는 주제로는 이화여대 에코과학부 석좌교수인 최재천 교수가 기후변화와 펜데믹이 일상화된 인류를 돌아보며 생물다양성과 지속가능한 발전에 대해 강연을 진행했다고 말했다. 

코로나19 지역감염 확산 방지를 위해 사전 신청한 시민에 한해 최소 규모로 진행된 아카데미는 강연 후에도 질의응답이 이어지는 등 시민들의 큰 호응 속에서 마무리됐다고 했다. 

현장에 참석했던 한 시민은 “환경에 대해 평소 생각하지 못했던 문제들을 알게 되어 유익한 시간이었으며 미래 세대를 위해 더욱 고민하고 실천하는 삶을 살아야 한다는 것을 배웠다”며 “앞으로도 이런 강연을 자주 접할 수 있길 바란다”고 말했다.

시 관계자는 “슬기로운 지구생활을 위한 마지막 강연으로 부모교육을 준비했으니 많은 시민의 관심과 참여 부탁한다”고 전했다.

한편 이번에 진행한 강의는 17일까지 시 공식 유튜브 채널을 통해 시청 가능하다고 했다.
