[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 오는 5월 28일까지 의정부시 안병용 시장은 가족 및 사회적 관계 단절 상태로 홀로 지내는 돌봄 사각지대에 놓여있는 중장년 독거가구를 선제적으로 발굴하고 맞춤형 서비스를 제공하기 위해 취약계층 중장년 독거가구 실태조사를 실시한다고 밝혔다. 

최근 전국적인 1인 가구 증가로 다양한 사회적 문제가 대두되고 있는 상태로, 특히 의정부시의 경우 실직, 가족해체, 건강 악화 등의 위험 발생이 높은 중장년층을 중심으로 1인 가구 비율(2020년 기준 37%, 자료출처: 통계청)이 꾸준히 증가하고 있어 위기가구를 선제적으로 발굴할 필요성이 높아지고 있다고 했다. 

이에 의정부시는 차상위계층 중 만40세 ~ 64세의 중장년을 대상으로 실태조사를 실시하여 도움이 필요한 위기 대상자에게 긴급복지 등 공적급여를 연계하고 복합적 욕구가 있는 대상자는 통합사례관리 대상자로 선정해 지원하고, 더불어 사회관계망으로부터 고립되어 고독사 위험이 있는 독거가구 50명을 선정해 6월~12월 기간 동안 지역사회보장협의체를 활용하여 건강음료 배달을 통한 정기적 안부확인을 실시할 예정이라고 했다.  

안병용 의정부시장은 “1인가구의 지속적 증가 및 가족·사회 공동체의 해체로 고독사 발생률이 꾸준히 증가하고 있다.”며 “복지 사각지대 위기가구가 발생되지 않도록 이웃의 관심과 민관협력 공동 발굴을 통한 촘촘한 지역보호체계를 강화하여 사회안전망을 구축할 수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다.”고 말했다.
