[김택곤 기자=정선군] 정선군은 가리왕산에서 발원해 정선읍 회동리에서 용탄리 구간에 흐르는 용탄천의 건천화 해소와 하천 생태 복원을 위한 '용탄천 생태하천 복원사업'을 본격추진한다.

용탄천 생태하천복원사업은 195억 을 투입하여 정선읍 회동리 회동3교에서부터 용탄리 월평교까지 약 1.75㎞ 구간에 대한 생태하천 복원을 추진하고 있다.

군은 지난 2017년부터 건천화된 용탄천의 물길 및 수생태계 복원, 가리왕산과 동강을 잇는 생태네트워크 구축사업인 용탄천 생태하천 복원사업 추진을 위한 하천기본계획 변경 고시, 용탄천 생태하천복원사업 기본 및 실시설계, 소규모 환경영향평가 협의 및 강원도 생태하천 복원 심의, 토지 보상 등 각종 행정절차를 올해 1월 모두 마무리 했다.

군은 본격적인 사업추진을 위해 23일 정선읍 회동2리 마을회관에서 지역 주민들을 대상으로 사업추진 배경과 그동안 추진 현황, 향후 계획 등에 대하여 설명을 진행하고 질의응답 시간을 가졌다.

군에서는 이번 설명회를 통해 주민들의 다양한 의견을 사업에 적극 반영해 3월부터 본격 사업 착수를 시작으로 오는 2025년 준공을 목표로 한다. 

군은 용탄천 생태하천 복원이 완료되면 용탄천은 4계절 맑은 물이 흐르는 생태하천으로 거듭나는 것은 물론 천혜의 자연경관을 갖춘 가리왕산 자연휴양림, 회동 솔향캠핑장 등과 연계한 생태체험관광 벨트가 구축되어 지역 경기 활성화에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대하고 있다.
