[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 국내 최대 독서문화축제 「2022 대한민국 독서대전」의 ‘책의 도시 원주’ 선포식이 지난 3월 24일 원주문화원에서 성황리에 마쳤다고 밝혔다.

선포식 행사에는 독서대전의 주최·주관기관인 문화체육관광부와 한국출판문화산업진흥원 관계자가 참석했으며, 독서대전 추진위원과 다양한 분야의 독서계 인사, 시민들이 참석했다고 했다.

이번 행사에서는 책의 도시 선포 및 상징기 전달식 후 ‘책은 신선한 해방감’이라는 메시지로 주제공연을 펼쳐 책으로 온 일상과 행복에 대한 염원을 표현했다고 했다.

또한, 참석한 내빈이 직접 자신의 인생에서 중요한 의미를 가진 책을 소개하고 릴레이 독서를 할 수 있도록 책 나눔 전달식을 진행했다고 전했다.

이어진 축하공연에서 원주YMCA어린이 합창단이 ‘독서는 희망이며, 그 희망의 주인공은 곧 당신이다.’라는 내용의 중창공연을 펼쳐 대한민국 독서대전에 대한 기대감을 심어줬다고 했다.

2부에서는 2022년 원주 한 도시 한 책 읽기 선정 도서인 <순례주택>의 저자 유은실 작가가 작품의 의미와 캐릭터에 대해 이야기하는 시간을 가졌다고 했다.

특히 이번 2022 대한민국 독서대전은 행사 현장을 유튜브, 메타버스 게더타운 등 온라인 매체와 연결하고 참여·소통 방식으로 진행해 대한민국 독서대전의 새로운 운영방식을 제시했다는 평가를 받았다고 했다.

연중행사를 비롯해 9월 본행사에서는 오프라인 현장과 메타버스 공간의 상호작용을 통해 시공간을 초월한 융합 축제 운영방식으로 진행해 지난해보다 더 효율적이고 성공적인 축제가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다고 했다.

행사에 참석한 문화관광체육부 정책 담당자는 “원주시는 박경리 작가, 그림책 등 지역의 특성을 살린 프로그램을 개발하고 시민이 주도하는 독서 축제를 준비하고 있다.”라고 했으며, 한국출판문화산업진흥원장은 “코로나19 상황에 독서 축제의 새로운 모델을 만들기 위해 원주시가 애쓰고 있다.”라며, “2022 대한민국 독서대전이 책을 만들고 나누고 읽는 모든 사람에게 꽃처럼 활짝 피어나길 바란다.”라고 말했다.
