[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 5월 6일까지, 고성군은 영농폐기물 불법소각으로 인한 미세먼지 발생을 예방하기 위해 영농폐기물 집중 수거 기간을 운영한다고 밝혔다.

고성군은 집중 수거기간 동안 농민들에게 영농폐기물의 올바른 배출방법을 홍보하고 수거장려금을 지급해 영농폐기물 수거를 적극 독려할 계획이고, 농가에서 수거된 폐비닐, 농약용기 등은 환경자원사업소 내 집하장에 보관했다가 환경부 산하 한국환경공단으로 이송되며, 폐비닐은 파쇄, 세척, 압축해 재생 원료로 재활용하고 폐농약 용기는 재활용하거나 소각 처리된다고 전했다.

수거장려금은 당해연도 예산 범위 내에서 농민이 영농폐기물을 분리 배출하면 폐기물 종류와 양에 따라 지급되며, 폐비닐은 이물질 함유량에 따라 1kg당 60~140원, 폐농약용기의 경우 1kg당 500원을 각각 지급한다고 했다.

영농폐기물 집중수거기간은 연중 농번기를 전후한 상반기(2~4월), 하반기(11~12월) 2차례 진행하고 있으며, 지난해는 기간 중 농촌폐비닐 150톤을 수거·처리 했다고 밝혔다.

임덕빈 환경보호과장은 “경작지 등에 방치하거나 불법 소각·매립되고 있는 폐농약병 및 농촌폐비닐 등을 집중 수거하면 농촌지역 환경보호에 크게 기여할 것으로 기대한다”며 군민들의 적극적인 참여를 당부했다.
