[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해시가 야생동물로 인한 농가 피해를 예방하기 위해 피해 예방시설 설치비를 지원한다고 밝혔다.

최근 아프리카돼지열병(ASF)의 확산세로 야생멧돼지를 포획하며 개체수를 많이 감소시키기는 하였으나, 야생동물의 서식지 이동과 뛰어난 번식력으로 인해 농가의 피해는 지속적으로 발생되고 있는 상황이라고 했다.

이에 동해시는 올해 총사업비 7,500만원을 들여 야생동물 피해 예방시설 설치 지원사업을 추진할 계획으로, 지원대상은 주민등록상 주소지가 동해시이며 실제 거주하는 자로, 피해예방시설 설치를 희망하는 농업인 등이고, 단, 최근 5년 이내 시설을 설치했거나 농작물의 피해가 없는 경우는 제외된다고 전했다.

지원되는 피해예방시설의 종류로는 철망울타리, 그물망울타리, 전기울타리 등으로 농민 스스로 피해예방시설 종류를 선택할 수 있으며, 농가당 최대 150만원까지 지원된다고 했다.

신청은 신청서, 설치계획, 경작확인서 등 구비서류를 갖춰 오는 28일까지 동해시청 환경과로 방문 접수하면 되고, 동해시는 지난해 피해예방시설 지원결과 총 55농가에 대해 7,700여만원을 지원했다고 전했다.

박상형 환경과장은 “지속적인 농작물피해예방시설 설치 지원으로 농가피해를 사전 예방하고, 농민의 안정적 경작을 보장과 야생동물 보호, 사람과 야생동물이 공존하는 건전한 생태환경 조성에 기여할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
