[김일웅 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 9월 30일 경기도의회 교육기획위원회 위원장 정윤경 의원은 경기 진로전담교사 배치 10주년 기념 행사의 축사를 통해 진로진학상담 교사들을 격려하며 축하의 말을 전했다고 밝혔다.

교육부가 2011년 중등학교 교원자격에 진로진학상담을 신설함에 따라 그 해 9월부터 전국 중·고교에 진로진학상담교사가 배치하기 시작하였고, 현재 경기도 내 1,132명의 진로전담교사로 재직하고 있다고 했다.

정윤경 의원은 축사를 통해 “그동안 대학 진학과 취업에만 취중해 온 학교 현장에 진로진학상담교사제의 도입은 개별 학생의 특성에 맞는 진로와 직업을 찾도록 도와주고 있다는 점에서 매우 중요한 의미를 가지고 있다”고 말했다.

특히, “2022년 국가교육과정 전면 개정과 2025년 고교학점제 시행으로 학생들의 진로·진학 상담 수요가 늘어날 것으로 예상되는 만큼 진로·진학 설계 지도의 내실화가 필요하다”고 말하며, “학생들이 자신의 잠재적 가능성을 통찰하고, 마음껏 자신의 꿈을 펼칠 수 있도록 진로진학상담교사 선생님들이 더욱 힘써주길 바란다”고 격려했다.
