[김현우 기자 = 경기북부] 양주시는 교육부와 국가평생교육진흥원이 주관하는 2021년 평생학습도시 재지정평가에서 평생학습도시로 재지정됐다고 밝혔다.

전국 177개 평생학습도시 중 2021년 재지정평가 대상은 평생학습도시로 지정된 후 만 4년이 경과한 61개 지자체를 대상으로 이뤄졌다고 했다.

평가는 평생학습도시의 추진체계·사업운영·사업성과 등 3년간 추진해온 전반적인 평생학습사업에 대한 전문위원들의 종합평가를 진행해 재지정 여부를 결정했다고 전했다. 

2013년 평생학습도시로 지정된 양주시는 코로나19 대응을 위한 교육프로그램 비대면 전환, 어르신 대상 문해교육과 장애인 평생교육, 천성마을 학습관 운영 등 소외계층 평생교육 활성화를 위한 정책 추진전략 마련, 평생학습 새로운 교육 수요 충족 등 차별화된 지역 특화 평생교육프로그램을 지속 추진해왔다고 했다.

특히, 프로그램 개선을 위한 수요조사와 성과분석 등 운영개선에 노력을 기울여 지속 가능한 학습공동체 활성화를 위한 동아리 발굴과 관리, 코로나19에 따른 동아리 운영점검과 맞춤형 컨설팅 등 평생학습 문화 조성을 위한 다각적 방안에 대해 우수한 평가를 받았다고 했다.

양주시 관계자는 “양주시가 2021년 평생학습도시로 재지정된 만큼, 온·오프라인을 포괄한 다양한 방식으로 시민의 학습 권리를 보장하겠다”며 “보다 체계적인 계획수립과 연계협력으로 시민들의 삶의 질 향상과 지역발전을 위해 최선을 다할 것이다”라고 말했다.
