또한 3개년 사업의 기초자료 활용 및 사업추진의 기본 방향 설정을 위해 호원1동 The G&B City 프로젝트 추진계획 및 호원 벚꽃축제 연계 방안을 주제로 조찬포럼을 실시하여 관계부서와 조경 전문가 등의 의견을 수렴하기도 하였다고 했다.

2020년, 호원1동은 의정부시민이 가장 사랑하는 산책로, 중랑천 벚꽃길 2.2km에 달하는 구간에 벚꽃길의 강점을 극대화 할 수 있는 녹화사업과 시설물 설치로 시민들에게 아름다운 환경을 제공함은 물론 코로나시대 언택트 휴양공간을 조성하였다고 전했다.

 

그 첫 번째로 중랑천 녹화사업의 일환으로 의정부시의 또 다른 역점 사업인 「책 읽는 도시 의정부」 이미지 홍보를 위해 유동인구가 많은 중랑천 초입 소공원과 회룡역 앞 우성아파트 방음벽에 책 표지 조형물을 주변의 꽃과 나무와 어울리게 조성함으로써 교육도시로서의 이미지 제고는 물론 좀 더 다양한 방법으로의 볼거리와 포토존을 제공하는 것에 그 의미를 두었다고 했다. 

     

또한 중랑천 곳곳에 미니화단 조성 및 초화류를 식재하고, 장미터널 일부 구간에 중랑천 벚꽃길을 상징하는 벚꽃 라이팅 꽃길을 조성하였으며, 호원동의 대표 축제인 벚꽃축제를 조망할 수 있는 문화 공간을 조성하고자 중랑천 광장 인근에 휴게데크를 설치하는 등 걷기만 해도 기분 좋아지는 의정부의 힐링 스팟을 만들기 위해 노력해왔다고 했다.

최근 심각한 사회문제로 대두되고 있는 초미세먼지, 폭염 등 각종 환경문제에 대한 해결책으로 도시숲 녹색공간의 역할이 커지고 있으며, 이를 조성하기 위해 관 주도가 아닌 전 시민이 참여하는 공동 프로젝트로 추진하여 시민들이 지역사회에 대한 애착심을 기르는 등 지속 가능한 시민 참여 행정을 구현하는 것이 The G&B City 프로젝트의 목적이기도 하다. 

 

이에 호원1동에서는 시민 참여형 꽃길 조성, 주민 설명회 개최, 주민 만족도 조사를 통해 사업에 대한 공유와 사업 전반에 대한 주민 의견 수렴 등으로 공감대를 형성하여 The G&B City 프로젝트에 보다 많은 주민이 참여하고 공감할 수 있도록 노력해왔다고 전했다.

 

The G&B City 프로젝트의 기본 추진 방향인 시민과 함께하는 꽃길 조성을 위해 자생단체 및 유관기관과 연계하여 매년 평화로변 유휴지, 중랑천 산책로 및 관내 자투리땅 미니 정원 조성 등을 추진하였으며, 2021년에는 중랑천 어린이공원에 시민이 직접 나무를 기증하여 심고 가꾸는 기념식수 공원 ‘희망의 숲’ 조성으로 G&B 사업이 단순 환경정비 사업을 넘어 주민 공동체가 활성화되는 계기를 마련하였다고 했다.

또한 The G&B City 프로젝트를 주민과 함께 공유하고 주민 참여를 유도하고자 호원1동 G&B 명소 사진 공모전을 개최하였으며, 공모전을 통해 많은 시민들이 호원1동 G&B 명소를 배경으로 참신하고 독창적인 장면을 사진으로 표현하며 호원1동 The G&B City 프로젝트에 좀 더 관심을 가지고 참여하는 계기를 마련하였다고 했다.

  

2021년에는 2019~2020년 조성한 평화로변과 중랑천 일원의 유지관리 방향에 대한 구체적인 계획을 수립하였으며, 그동안의 주민설명회 및 만족도 조사 결과에 따른 주민 의견을 반영하여 초화류 보식, 시설물 보완 등 기존 조성 구간에 대한 추가적 보완을 추진하고 있다고 했다.

 

그 첫 번째로 2019년 의정부시의 관문인 평화로 진입 도로변에 조성한 대나무 식재 구간에 야간경관 개선을 위한 경관조명 설치를 완료하였고, 이번 경관조명 설치로 평화로변 대나무길이 코로나19로 지친 주민들이 잠시나마 힐링할 수 있는 공간으로서 중랑천 산책로와 연계되는 시민이 즐겨 찾는 야간 산책로가 될 것으로 기대하고 있다고 했다.

또한 기존 30m인 중랑천 장미터널 구간을 120m로 연장하고 장미 식재를 완료하여 장미가 활착하는 내년부터는 4월 만개한 벚꽃과 함께 5월 활짝 핀 장미로 시민들에게 화려한 볼거리를 제공함은 물론 중랑천의 또 다른 명소가 될 것으로 기대된다고 했다.
