[장선희 기자 = 경기북부] 지난 6월 2일 의정부시 신곡1동은 G&B 프로젝트와 연계해 신곡1동 곳곳에 꽃길 조성하는‘아름다움 꽃길 가꾸기’사업을 완료했다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 지난 4월부터 시작하여 단순히 화초 식재에 그치지 않고 시민들에게 녹색휴식 공간을 제공함과 더불어 무단투기 근절이라는 올바른 시민의식 유도라는 공익적 목적을 함께 추구하고자, 적극행정을 통해 미관을 저해하는 방치유휴지와 쓰레기 무단투기 장소에 화단조성과 화분설치를 추진했다고 말했다. 

사업대상지는 총 5개소이며 메리골드, 제라륨, 백일홍, 철쭉, 무궁화, 넝쿨장미 등 다양한 초화류와 수목을 식재했으며, 백일홍은 의정부시 도시농업과의 그린플레이스사업을 통해 공급받았다고 했다.

신곡1동 행정복지센터 주변 메리골드 식재를 시작으로, 둔배미 마을에 제라륨 130본과 백일홍 2천500본을 식재하여 시민이 걷고 즐길 수 있는 꽃길을 조성했다고 말했다.

상습 쓰레기 무단투기 장소인 장곡 교회 앞 공영주차장 화단에는 철쭉 200주를 식재했고, 관내 의류수거함 옆 무단투기 장소 10곳에는 대형화분 25개에 백일홍 700본을 식재하여 환경정화와 꽃길 조성이라는 결과를 동시에 달성했다고 했다.

특히 신곡동 603-1번지에 위치한 유휴지는 사유지로서 행정권한이 미치지 않는 곳으로, 오랫동안 방치된 쓰레기 등으로 민원이 끊이지 않았으며, 이를 해결하기 위해 신곡1동은 토지소유자 6명과 적극적으로 협의하여 토지 사용에 대한 동의를 이끌어내고, 철쭉 500주, 넝쿨장미 10본 무궁화 10주를 식재하여 정갈한 화단을 조성하는 등 적극행정의 대표적 사례로 꼽을 수 있을 것이라고 했다.
