[김택곤 기자 = 영월군] 제40회 영월군민의 날을 맞이하여 10월 26일부터 11월 14일까지 약 10일간, 영월문화예술회관에서 단원 조민호 명장의 도자기 작품 전시회가 개최된다.

영월 출신이자, 홍보대사로 활동하고 있는 단원 조민호 명장은 단국대학교 도예학과를 졸업, 2017 경기도 광주시 8대 명장 지정, 2008 유네스코 우수 수공예 어워드 수상 등 유네스코 인증 작가이자 도예 명장으로 세계각지에서 개인전을 펼치며 많은 이들에게 인정을 받아왔다.

이번에 고향인 영월에서 펼칠 도자기 전시 테마는 ‘기억을 품다’로, 단원 조민호 명장의 어린 시절 동강에서의 추억을 회상하며 동강의 강돌을 오브제로 사용해 도자기화한 작품들을 위주로 전시된다.

조민호 명장은  ‘이번 전시를 통해 ‘나’를 드러내기보다 ‘고향’에 대한 추억을 보여줄 것이며, 드넓은 바다를 겪고도 자기가 태어난 강으로 돌아오는 연어처럼 모천회귀를 앞둔 연어의 심정으로 전시를 준비할 것이다.’라며 옛 기억에 대한 설렘과 애틋함을 전했다.

최명서 영월군수는 ‘이번 도자기 전시회가 전통 도자기에 대한 새로운 관심과 저변 확대는 물론, 우리 군민 모두의 문화적 감성을 한층 더 일깨우는 소중한 시간이 되기를 기대한다며’ 응원의 메시지를 전했다.
