오늘 위촉받은 40명의 운영위원은 향후 2년동안 지속가능발전협의회 구성원으로 정선군의 지속가능발전 정책 전반에 참여하게 되며, 특히 군민 참여형 실천사업 추진 등에 핵심적 역할을 맡게 된다.

2015년 출범한 정선군 지속가능발전협의회는 "정선지속가능발전협의회 설치 및 운영조례"에 따라 지속가능발전 계획 수립과 평가·조사연구·교육홍보·실천사업 등을 통해 군의 지속가능발전을 실천하는 민관협력 단체이다.

최승준 군수는 제8기 정선군협의회를 이끌 최종천 협의회장을 비롯한 운영위원들에게 지속가능발전의 도약의 전환점이 될 수 있도록 탄소배출을 최소화를 통해 정선군의 청정 이미지를 전국에 알려 관광산업에도 힘써 달라고 당부했다.
