[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 10월 7일부터 고성군은 아프리카 돼지열병 및 코로나19 확산 방지를 위해 중단됐던 이후 지난해 시범운영으로 뜨거운 호응을 얻었던 ‘DMZ 평화의 길’ 고성 구간이 다시 개방된다고 밝혔다.

‘DMZ 평화의 길’은 남북분단 이후 DMZ를 최초로 국민에게 개방하여 전쟁의 상흔과 분단의 상징에서 세계생태평화의 상징지대로 육성하고자 추진된 사업으로, 지난 2021년 시범개방에 총 549명, 2019년 총 1만2000여명이 DMZ 평화의 길 고성구간을 찾는 등 뜨거운 호응을 얻었다.

이번에 재개방하는 고성 구간은 총 2개 코스로, 통일전망대를 출발해 금강통문, 금강산전망대를 거쳐 다시 통일전망대로 복귀하는 A코스와 통일전망대에서 금강산전망대를 거쳐 다시 통일전망대로 복귀하는 B코스이다. 총 3달간 운영되는 평화의길은 일2회/회차당 20명 운영(매주 월·목:휴무일)하며 참가신청은 온라인 ‘DMZ 평화의길’ 사이트에서 사전예약이 가능하고 올해부터는 노쇼방지를 위해 유료로 운영, 일인당 참가비 만원을 입금해야 방문일정이 확정되며, 이는 통일전망대 입장료와는 별개로 지불해야 한다. 참가비 입금 및 예약은 한국관광공사에서 일괄 담당, 콜센터를 통해 상담이 가능하다.
