[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 23일부터 9월 12일까지 양구수목원은 더위에 지친 심신을 위로하고 색다른 분위기를 연출하기 위하여 야간 개장을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

야간 개장은 매주 토요일과 일요일, 공휴일마다 오후 6시부터 밤 10시까지 운영되며, 관람객은 밤 9시 30분까지 입장해야 하고 입장료는 일반 성인이 6000원, 국가유공자와 65세 이상 노인, 6세 미만 어린이는 무료이며, 양구군민과 호수문화권역(춘천, 홍천, 화천, 인제) 주민은 50% 할인되고 야간 개장과 더불어 가족 단위의 방문객이 수목원에서 추억을 만들 수 있도록 23일부터 총 4회에 걸쳐 샌드아트, 마술쇼, 버블쇼 등 다양한 프로그램을 진행한다.

박용근 생태산림과장은 “양구수목원의 다양한 행사와 프로그램을 통해 코로나19 거리두기와 더위에 지친 군민과 방문객에게 작은 위로가 되기를 바란다”고 말했다. 

한편, 양구수목원은 지난 2004년 한국의 100대 명산인 대암산 자락에 생태식물원을 조성하고 그 이후 DMZ야생화분재원과 목재문화체험관, 야생동물생태관, 유아숲놀이터 등 시설을 확대하였고 지난 2020년 도립수목원으로 승격하여 지금까지 양구 관광 1번지로 자리잡고 있으며, 오감으로 느끼고 체험할 수 있는 자연생태 교육 명소로 거듭나고 있다.
