[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 5월 19일 김양호 삼척시장 후보는 도계중앙시장을 방문해 도계읍 주민들 대상으로 첫 선거운동에 나섰다.

이 날 김 후보는 더불어민주당 기초의원 후보들과 함께 대규모 유세를 펼쳤으며, 도계읍을 위한 공약 연설을 했다.

김 후보는 “도의원 8년, 시장 8년 도합 16년이라는 이 짧지 않은 세월을 공직자의 길로 걸어갈 수 있도록 토대를 만들어준 분들이 바로 이 도계 지역 주민들이다. 주민들의 하해와 같은 은혜 가슴 깊이 간직하면서 죽는 그 날까지 보은할 길을 생각하며 살아가겠다”고 말했다.

또한 “석탄산업 합리화로 인해서 많은 어려움이 있고 인구가 급감하고 지역 경제가 나락으로 떨어진 이 도계 지역을 위해 어떻게 하면 희망과 용기를 줄 수 있고, 지역 경제를 활성화시킬 수 있는지 고민하며 시장 역할을 수행했다.”고 전했다.

김 후보는 능력 있고 일을 잘해야 하고, 행정조직을 바로 안정화할 수 있어야 하며, 삼척시민들에게 미래 비전을 보여줄 수 있는 사람이 삼척시장 자격이 있다고 강조했다.

이에 본인은 흑자를 낼 수 없던 도계 블랙밸리 골프장이 흑자를 낼 수 있도록 만들었고 그 수익금으로 도계 학생들에게 장학금 지원을 해 도계 캠퍼스 및 지역경제를 활성화 시켰다고 어필했다.

공약으로는 한방 전문대학원 유치 및 한방산업 특구 조성, 현 정부의 석탄 산업 합리화 사업 대비책 마련, 제2 복합 연구관. 제3 복합 연구관 신축, 석공 부지 활용해 청년들이 즐길 수 있는 문화 인프라 구축, 인조 흑연 실증화 사업 신속 추진, 블랙 다이아몬드 관광벨트 조성, 어르신들 일자리 사업 증진 및 복지 향상 등을 약속했다.

마지막으로 “정말 능력 있는 후보, 경험이 있는 후보, 정직하고 깨끗한 후보, 김양호를 다시 한 번 선택해 주시기를 간곡히 간곡히 부탁드린다”며 지지를 호소했다.
