[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 25일을 시작으로 5월 5일까지 11일간 ‘제49회 한국중․고태권도연맹회장기 전국 태권도대회’와 ‘제18회 한국중․고태권도연맹회장배 전국 품새대회’가 태백 고원체육관에서 연이어 개최된다고 밝혔다.

이번 ‘제49회 한국중고태권도연맹회장기 전국 태권도대회’는 약 1,800여명의 선수들이 참가하여 오는 25일부터 28일까지는 고등부, 오는 29일부터 5월 3일까지는 중등부 겨루기 경기가 펼쳐질 예정이며, 이어서 ‘제18회 한국중․고태권도연맹회장배 전국 품새대회’가 오는 5월 4일부터 5일까지 2일간 중등부 및 고등부 개인‧복식‧단체전으로 총 620여명의 선수들이 참가한 가운데 치열한 승부를 펼친다고 했다.

이번 대회는 지난 2009년부터 14년간 개최된 ‘문화체육관광부장관기 전국 중․고 태권도대회’의 성공적인 개최에 힘입어 한국중․고태권도연맹과 지난 3월 협약을 추가 체결하고 태백시에서 처음으로 개최되는 대회로 오는 2023년까지 2년간 개최될 예정이며, 태백시체육회에서는 대회기간 중 오는 5월 1일 14시 황지연못 문화광장에서 태권도 붐 조성을 위해 국가대표 태권도 시범단을 초청해 황지연못 문화광장에서 시범 공연 및 난타 공연을 선보인다고 전했다.
