[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 동해시가 제8회 전국동시지방선거를 앞두고 선거사무의 완벽한 이행과 공정한 선거관리, 깨끗한 선거문화 정착을 위해 공명선거 지원계획을 수립·지원한다고 밝혔다.

이를 위해 지난 4월 2일부터 오는 6월 1일까지 선거지원상황실을 운영하며, 선거지원상황실은 행정과장을 단장으로 선거 담당 부서 직원 등 5개반으로 구성돼 선거인 명부 작성 등 법정선거사무 추진을 비롯해, 선관위·경찰 등 유관기관과의 협조를 통한 공명선거 추진체계를 구축한다고 했다.

또, 선거를 앞두고 공무원의 선거 중립 및 공직기강 확립, 선거 관련 공직기강 확립 교육·감찰활동 강화, 공직자 선거중립의무 교육·홍보 실시로 공정하고 안전한 선거업무 추진을 지원한다고 전했다.

동해시 관계자는 “공명선거 지원을 통해 법정 선거사무가 완벽히 이행되도록 지원하고, 시 공무원의 선거 중립 의무 준수 등 공직선거법 위반 사례도 미연에 방지할 수 있도록 하겠다”고 말했다.
