[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 양양군청 공무원이 2년간 길러온 머리카락을 소아암 환자들을 위해 기부해 화제라고 전했다.

기부 주인공은 양양군청 허가민원실 이나영 주무관으로 공직에 입문한 지 1년 4개월차 새내기 공무원이라고 했다.

이주무관은 지난 2월, 2년 동안 정성껏 관리한 30cm가량의 머리카락을 ‘어린 암 환자를 위한 머리카락 나눔 운동에 기부했으며, 대학 재학시절 한국소아암재단 서포터즈 활동을 하며 소아암 환자들을 가까이에서 지켜본 이주무관은 공무원 합격소식을 접하고서 소아암 환자들을 위해 자신도 뭔가 해야겠다고 다짐했다고 전했다. 

이후 머리카락을 기부하기 위해 파마·염색 등을 전혀 하지 않고, 드라이기 사용도 줄여 자연건조 하는 등 모발 손상을 최소화하고자 노력했다고 밝혔다.

소아암 환자들은 항암치료를 하면서 가발을 착용하는 경우가 있는데 100% 인모가발은 가격이 수백만 원에 달하기 때문에 머리카락 기부를 통한 인모가발 제작이 큰 도움이 된다고 했다.

이주무관은 “머리카락을 관리하는 과정이 쉽지는 않았지만 아이들을 위한 가발에 쓰인다고 생각하니 기르는 내내 기쁘고 행복했다”라며 “제 작은 실천이 조금이나마 희망이 되었기를 소망한다”고 말했다.
