철암 고터실 산업단지는 태백시가 지난 2019년 공모를 통해 도비 146억 원을 지원받아 총 사업비 294억여 원을 투입해 21만 5천여㎡ 규모의 산업단지를 조성하는 사업으로 오는 2024년 준공 예정이라고 했다.

태백시는 지난해 7월 철암고터실 산업단지 조성사업 개발계획 및 기본 실시설계 용역에 착수해 오는 2023년 1월에 완료할 예정이라고 전했다.

또한, 올해 6월에는 강원도에 산업단지 지정신청서를 제출함과 동시에 편입토지 및 건물 등에 대한 보상절차에 착수하여 2023년 상반기에 보상을 완료할 계획이라고 했다.

태백시 관계자는 “단지조성사업이 완료되면 관내 입주율이 100%에 육박하는 철암농공단지 및 장성농공단지의 과밀화가 해소될 수 있을 것”이라고 말했다.
