[장선희 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 1월 13일 오전 11시, 요아나 도너바르트 네덜란드 주한대사와 딕알스마 무관은 횡성군청을 방문해 가스텔 마을(Oud Gastel)에서 제작한 특별 영상메시지 전달식을 가졌다고 밝혔다.  

장신상 군수와 안효명 6.25 참전용사회장, 김남호 네덜란드 교류문화제 추진단장을 포함해 20여명이 참석한 이날 행사에서는 상호인사와 함께 가스텔 마을에서 보내는 영상메시지를 함께 시청하였다고 전했다.  

횡성군과 네덜란드와의 인연은 6.25 한국전쟁당시로 거슬러 올라가며, 네덜란드는 자국의 병력이 부족함에도 불구, 자유민주주의를 수호하기 위해 참전, 오우덴 중령 휘하의 부대는 횡성에서 가장 격렬한 전투를 펼쳐 많은 희생자가 나왔고, 군은 오우덴 중령을 비롯해 타국의 젊은이들이 낯선 땅에서 숨진 것을 기리기 위해 네덜란드 참전기념비와 오우덴 중령비를 세우고 매년 추모행사를 진행하고 있다고 했다.
