[김일중 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 11월 15일까지 양주시옥정종합사회복지관은 한국가스기술공사 서울지사 양주사업소와 함께 2021년 가스차단기 지원사업 ‘가스콕콕’을 실시한다고 밝혔다.

이번 사업은 가스 누출에 따른 화재사고에 취약한 독거노인과 치매 위험 노인 등 사례관리 대상 가정 20가구에 가스차단기 설치를 지원해 안전사고 발생으로 인한 인명과 재산피해를 예방하고자 마련했다고 전했다.

가스차단기는 가스밸브를 연 후 일정 시간이 지나면 자동으로 가스를 차단시켜 과열화재사고와 가스누출사고를 예방할 수 있는 안전장치로 복지관은 한국가스기술공사와 함께 취약계층 가정에 개별 방문해 가스차단기를 설치하고 가스배관 정리, 가스시설 안전상태 등을 함께 점검할 예정이라고 했다.

정민구 지사장은 “가스안전차단기 설치를 통해 화재사고 예방에 큰 효과가 있을 것으로 기대된다”며 “직원들의 기술과 재능이 취약계층의 주거환경 개선에 보탬이 될 수 있어 매우 기쁘다”고 전했다.
