이번 사업은 중증장애인의 직무능력 향상 및 취업을 위해 훈련지원인에게 지역사회 일반사업체 현장에서 3~6개월 동안 직무훈련 서비스를 제공하여, 직업훈련에 참여하는 장애인이 보다 안정적으로 업무와 사업체 환경에 적응할 수 있도록 지원하는 사업이라고 말했다.
 

이에 복지관은 2021년 5월부터 연간 1억2천8백만원 규모의 예산을 지원받아 전담인력과 훈련지원인을 채용하여, 직업상담, 직업평가, 사업체 개발, 현장중심 직업훈련, 취업알선과 적응지도를 진행할 예정이라고 했다. 
 

동두천시장애인종합복지관 윤동인 관장은 “한국장애인개발원 중증장애인직업재활지원사업 선정을 통해 동두천시 관내 중증장애인들에게 자립생활에 필요한 직업재활서비스 제공할 수 있게 되어 매우 기대되며, 지역사회의 많은 관심을 바란다”고 공모 선정소감을 밝혔다.
