[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 속초시는 대포농공단지 내 명태가공(코다리) 업종에 대한 인력난 문제를 해결하기 위해 외국인 계절근로자 프로그램을 진행한다고 밝혔다. 

외국인 계절근로자 프로그램은 농어가에서 내국인에 의해 인력 충원이 어려울 경우, 외국인을 계절근로자 비자를 통해 최소 3개월에서 최대 5개월까지 국내에 체류하며 일손을 도울 수 있게 하는 프로그램이다. 

올해 속초시는 명태 가공에 대해 원물 가공의 특성을 인정받아 법무부 승인으로 프로그램을 진행하게 됐다.

속초시는 국내 체류 외국인의 신청, 결혼이민자의 가족 및 4촌 이내 친척을 초청하는 방법으로 계절근로자를 모집한다.

외국인 계절근로자 참여 신청은 시 홈페이지 공고를 확인하여 신청서 및 관련 서류를 작성하여 오는 9월 16일까지 일자리경제과 기업지원팀에 제출하면 된다. 

선정되어 입국한 외국인 계절근로자는 대포농공단지 내 명태가공(코다리) 업체에서 10월 ~ 2월까지 일을 하게 되며 근로조건 등은 업체별로 상이할 수 있다.

속초시 관계자는“계절근로자 프로그램 도입으로 내국인이 기피하는 명태 가공업의 인력난을 해소하고, 프로그램의 안정적인 정착으로 속초명태산업이 발전할 수 있기를 기대한다.”라고 말했다.
