[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 화천군은 최근 산양리 일대 일명 ‘사방거리’ 마을 안길에 경관조명 설치를 완료했다. 

이 사업은 군이 지난 2019년부터 총 175억8,000만원을 투입해 추진 중인 ‘산양평화지역 경관조성사업’의 일환으로 진행됐으며 경관조명 설계 초기부터 젊은 신세대 군장병의 심리적 안정까지 세심하게 고려했고 그 결과 조명이 부착된 담장 등에는 차분한 분위기를 만들어내는 간접 조명이 주로 설치됐으며 길을 걷다 마치 누군가 말을 걸어오는 듯한 인상을 심어주기 위해 조명의 문구 역시 친근한 대화체로 설정됐다. 

실제 골목길을 걷다보면, ‘너, 오늘도 참 예쁘다’, ‘있잖아, 너는 소중해’, ‘그대와 함께 하는 삶이 꽃길이어라’, ‘힘차게 날아올라라’, ‘너만의 향기가 나는 꽃이 되길’등 형형색색의 담장이 위로의 말을 건네는 듯한 인상을 받게 되며 장병들이 즐겨 찾는 DMZ 시네마의 외벽에도 역시 ‘우리 같이 영화보러 갈래’라는 글귀가 조명과 함께 정감있게 새겨졌다. 

사방거리는 야간경관 뿐 아니라 대대적인 정비로 새 옷을 입고 있는 중이며 군은 현재까지 마을안길 정비, 마을숲 조성, 전선 지중화, 교량 경관개선, 가로등 설치 등을 완료했고 오래된 상가건물 입주업소 66곳의 입면을 개선하고, 경관을 저해하는 건축물은 말끔히 철거했으며 연내 마을 순환도로 정비, 공공건물 야간조명 설치, 마을 안길 담장 도색, 전차 방호벽 경관개선 등도 마무리할 계획이다. 

최문순 화천군수는 “신세대 장병 뿐 아니라 주민들이 사방거리를 경직된 군사지역이 아닌, 정이 넘치는 마을로 느낄 수 있도록 사업을 완료하겠다”고 말했다.
