[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 김동근 의정부시장은 지난 7월 4일 중국의 민간외교 싱크탱크인 차하얼학회의 한방명 회장을 접견하고, 향후 협력 방안에 대해 환담을 나눴다고 밝혔다.

의정부시와 차하얼학회는 공공외교를 바탕으로 양국의 효과적인 교류를 위해 꾸준히 협력하고 있으며, 동북아시아 평화체제 구축을 위한 ‘한·중 공공외교 평화포럼’을 2015년부터 공동 개최하고 있다고 전했다.

한중수교 30주년을 맞아 방한 중인 한방명 회장은 이날 의정부시청을 방문해 김동근 시장의 취임을 축하했고, 향후 다양한 분야에서의 협력 의사를 전달했다고 했다.

김동근 의정부시장은 “취임 축하차 방문한 한방명 회장에게 감사의 인사를 전했으며, 이번 만남을 계기로 의정부시와 중국 간의 교류협력 사업이 시너지 효과를 낼 수 있도록 노력하겠다”라고 밝혔다.
