‘속초시 자연재해저감 종합계획 재수립 용역’은 속초시 전 지역을 대상으로 태풍, 호우, 강풍, 홍수, 풍랑, 해일(지진해일 포함), 조수, 대설, 가뭄과 같은 자연재난에 대해 지역적 특성에 따른 위험요인을 종합적으로 조사 분석해 안전대책을 수립하는 것으로, 이번 용역은 자연재해 현황, 재해예방사업 및 주변여건 변화, 각종 개발계획을 반영하고 자연재해 위험요인을 종합적으로 조사‧분석해 자연재해를 예측하고, 예방 및 저감대책을 마련하고 실행방안을 제시하는 방재분야 최상위 종합계획이라고 했다.

속초시는 올해 말까지 기초현황조사 및 자연재해위험지역 후보지를 선정한 후 위험도지수 및 위험요인 분석 결과를 반영한 위험지역을 확정하고, 내년 2월에 주민공청회 등을 거쳐 시행계획 수립 후 내년 5월 행정안전부 승인을 받아 최종 확정하게 된다고 전했다.
