[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 의정부시의회는 21일 시의회 3층 의원회의실에서 오범구 의장을 비롯한 시의원, 안병용 의정부시장 및 간부 공무원 등이 참석한 가운데 폐회식을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

이번 폐회식은 지난 4년간 시의원들이 의정 발전에 기여한 노고를 치하하며 제8대 의회를 마무리하기 위해 마련됐으며, 의정활동 동영상 시청과 공로패·감사패 전달, 기념패 및 의정활동 앨범 전달, 의장의 폐회사와 시장 인사말씀, 기념 촬영 등으로 진행됐다고 했다.

2018년 7월 출범한 제8대 의정부시의회는 활발한 입법 활동과 현장 활동을 통한 지역 현안 해결에 주력하며 47만 의정부시민을 대변하기 위해 노력해왔다고 했다.

오범구 의장은 “지난 4년간 동료 의원 여러분과 함께 의정부시민의 행복을 위해 혼신을 다해 의정활동을 펼쳤고, 보람과 아쉬움 속에서 공식적인 활동을 마무리하게 되었다”는 마음을 전하며, “새롭게 출범하는 제9대 의회에서도 우리 시의 도약과 발전이라는 공통 목표를 가지고 더욱 발전된 모습으로 시민에게 신뢰받는 의회가 되기를 기원한다”라고 덧붙였다.

한편, 오는 1일 개원하는 제9대 의정부시의회는 제315회 임시회를 열어 새롭게 구성된 제9대 의회 전반기를 이끌어나갈 의장, 부의장, 3명의 상임위원장을 선출할 예정이라고 전했다.
