[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 17일 화천군과 대한카누연맹은 화천호 카누 경기장에서 2022년 카누 스프린트 청소년 국가대표 선발전을 개최한다고 전했다. 

이번 대표 선발전에서는 카약과 카누 청소년 대표 26명이 선발되며 다음날인 18일에는 같은 장소에서 제21회 파로호배 전국 카누경기대회가 개막한다고 했다. 

올해 대회는 중․고․대․일반부 엘리트 선수들이 출전하며, 첫째날인 18일 200m 경기, 19일 1,000m, 500m 경기, 20일 500m 경기가 치러지고 전국 16개 시․도에서 83팀, 약 500여 명의 선수단이 출사표를 던졌다고 했다. 

전국대회와 청소년 대표선발전이 동시에 열리기 때문에 개막 이전부터 화천지역 곳곳에서는 사전 적응훈련이 진행되고 있으며 덕분에 지역 숙박업소와 음식점을 비롯한 소상공인들도 모처럼의 스포츠 대회 특수를 누리는 중이라고 밝혔다. 

최문순 화천군수는 “앞으로도 전국 규모 스포츠 대회의 전략적 유치를 통해 지역경제 기여도를 높이고, 지역경제가 되살아날수 있도록 최선을 다하겠다”고 강조했다.
