[안종욱 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 지난 12일, 설악면 새마을부녀회는 봄을 맞이하여 관내 취약어르신 200가정에 계절김치를 지원하였다고 밝혔다.

본 행사는 한국수력원자력(주) 청평수력발전소의 후원을 받아 설악면 새마을부녀회의 주관으로 펼쳐졌고, 오전에는 열무절이기 등 본격적인 김장을 하기에 앞서 준비작업을 마쳤으며, 오후에는 속 재료와 버무리는 작업을 부녀회원 등이 함께 참여하여 실시하였고, 이날 만들어진 계절김치 200통(200kg)가량은 코로나19로 집에서만 머무르고 계신 관내 독거어르신, 경로당 등 소외된 이웃에게 전달되었다고 했다.

면부녀회는 독거노인 외 사회적 관심과 배려가 필요한 취약계층에게 김치를 나눠주는 행사를 매년 시행해 오고 있으며, 이날 행사에는 이영하 청평수력발전소장과 이범주 설악면장 등 많은 분들이 이웃을 위한 사랑을 나누기 위해 자리를 빛냈다고 전했다. 

박지숙 새마을부녀회장은 “코로나19로 바깥 외출이 더 어려워진 지역 내 취약어르신의 식탁에 봄의 기운을 전해드리고자 한다”며 “앞으로도 다양한 방식의 나눔 활동을 통해 지역주민과 함께 하는 설악면부녀회가 되도록 노력하겠다”라고 했다.

이범주 설악면장은 “작년에 지원해드린 김장김치가 떨어질 즈음이 되고 계절이 바뀌는 시기에 입맛이 없어 끼니를 거르는 일이 많은 취약 어르신들게 조금이나마 도움을 드릴 수 있어 좋다”라고 말했다. 

한편, 설악면부녀회는 평소 어려운 이웃을 위한 고추장 담그기, 김장 담그기, 명절 음식나누기 등 지역사회를 위한 봉사활동을 지속적으로 펼쳐왔으며 이번 계절김치 나누기 행사를 계기로 코로나19로 잠시 주춤했던 단체활동에 다시 한번 활력을 불어 넣었다고 했다.
