[남상훈 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 류태호 태백시장은 지난 5일 태백공원묘원을 방문해 시설 운영 현황을 확인하고 화장로 가동을 담당하는 직원들을 격려했다고 전했다.

최근 코로나 19 오미크론 변이 확산과 환절기 시기가 겹치면서 사망자가 급증해 지난 3월 수도권 등 외지인들의 원정화장이 증가함에 따라 태백공원묘원 화장장은 원정화장 151건 등 총 250건의 화장을 진행해 지난해 하루 평균 0.8건의 8.25배를 기록했다고 전했다.

류태호 태백시장은 어려운 여건속에서도 근무하는 직원들의 애로사항을 청취하고 격려하며, 비상시기에 빠른 대처를 통해 태백 시민들이 화장예약으로 인한 불편함이 발생치 않도록 당부했다.

아울러 "시에서도 태백시민이 화장장 이용에 차질이 없도록 예비기 등 가용시설을 적극 가동해 시민불편이 없도록 조치해 나가겠다” 고 말했다.
