[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 오는 4월 1일부터 태백시는 1회용품 과다 사용으로 인한 환경오염 문제를 방지하기 위해 식당, 카페 등 식품접객업 매장 내에서의 1회용품 사용을 금지한다고 밝혔다.

이는 코로나19 감염 예방을 위해 한시적으로 허용하던 식품접객업소 매장 내 1회용품 사용을 플라스틱 등 폐기물이 급증함에 따라 환경부 고시 개정으로 다시 금지된 데 따른 조치라고 했다. 

이번 개정으로 식품접객업소 매장 내에서는 1회용(합성수지, 금속박류) 컵·접시·용기, 1회용 나무젓가락, 이쑤시개, 1회용 수저·포크·나이프, 1회용 비닐식탁보 사용을 할 수 없다. 위반 시에는 최대 300만원 이하의 과태료가 부과될 수 있다고 했다.

태백시는 연중 수시로 현장점검을 실시하며, 코로나19 상황임을 감안하여 1회용품 사용 제한 단속보다는 지도와 안내 중심의 계도를 진행할 계획이라고 전했다.

태백시 관계자는 “1회용품 대신 다회용품을 사용하는 문화가 널리 확산될 수 있도록 관련 업계와 시민들의 적극적인 동참을 바란다”고 말했다.
