[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 태백시는 3월부터 7월까지 4개월간 시정 업무 체험과 사회생활을 경험할 수 있는 기회를 제공하기 위해 상반기 휴학생 아르바이트를 운영한다고 밝혔다.

이번 참여자는 공개모집을 거쳐 본인 또는 부모가 태백시에 주소를 둔 2년제 이상 대학 휴학생 12명을 추첨으로 선발하였으며, 지난 7일부터 보건소 외 4개 부서에 배치되어 근무를 수행하고 있다고 했다.

배치된 휴학생들은 코로나19 확산세에 따라 업무 지원이 시급한 신속항원 검사소 및 선별 진료소 지원 업무와 소상공인 방역 지원금 지원 업무 등 재난관련 업무에 집중 투입되어 시정 업무를 지원하고 다양한 현장업무를 체험한다고 했다.

태백시는 앞서 지난 7일 아르바이트 근무자를 대상으로 사전 오리엔테이션을 진행하여 배치 부서, 근무 일정, 코로나19 자가 키트 검사 등을 안내했다고 전했다.

태백시 관계자는 “코로나19 장기화로 많은 어려움을 겪고 있는 청년들이 학비 부담을 덜고 새로운 사회 경험을 쌓는 좋은 기회가 되길 바란다”고 말했다.
