지방세 환급금은 주로 자동차세 납부 후 소유권을 이전하거나 폐차하는 경우 또는 국세인 소득세 경정에 따른 지방소득세의 세액조정으로 발생하며, 지난해 양양군의 미지급된 지방세 환급금은 모두 668건, 1,735만원이고, 이에 군은 미수령자에 대해 환급안내문을 일괄 발송하고, ‘양양군 지방세환급’ 카카오톡 채널을 활용한 홍보를 통해 환급금을 전액 돌려준다는 방침이라고 전했다.

지방세 환급금은 스마트 위택스(모바일), 행정서비스 포털 시스템인 정부24의 ‘나의 생활정보’에서 확인할 수 있고, 특히, 위택스 시스템에서는 별도의 회원가입 없이도 ‘지방세 미환급금 찾기’를 통하여 간편하게 신청 후, 환급금을 돌려받을 수 있으며, 인터넷 사용이 불편한 경우에는 양양군청 세무회계과 문의를 통해 확인하면 된다고 했다.
