속초시는 지난해 사업비 559백만원을 투입하여 관내 초등학교 어린이보호구역 17개소에 무인교통단속장비 설치사업을 추진했고, 교통사고가 잦은 곳에 57백만원을 투입하여 무인교통단속장비 1개소를 설치했으며, 이후 해당 시설을 강원경찰청에서 2022년 3월 인수받아 90일간 계도기간을 가진 후 전면적인 단속을 시행할 예정이라고 했다.
