[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 태백시는 시민들의 건강하고 안전한 산책 및 휴양활동을 위해 ‘황지천∼철암천 힐링숲길 조성사업’을 추진해 오고 있다고 전했다.

본 사업은 도심 내 하천과 연접한 산림의 자연환경을 활용한 생활권 숲길 조성(산책로 정비 등)을 통해 시민들에게 쾌적하고 안전한 산책로를 제공하여 휴양활동을 통한 자연친화적 힐링공간을 조성하는 사업이라고 했다.

‘황지천∼철암천 힐링숲길 조성사업’은 2017년부터 연차적으로 권역별로 추진되고 있다고 전했다.

2018년에는 신일교(한길가스충전소)에서 위령탑과 대산1차아파트를 경유하여 평생학습관을 연결하는 총 연장 5.5km의 힐링숲길을 조성했다고 했다.

2021년부터는 보도가 없는 짝바우골교(한보5단지 입구)에서 위령탑 부근까지 약 3.5km 송이재 구간에 데크로드 및 휴게시설 등을 설치중으로 올해 상반기에는 숲길 조성을 완료할 예정이라고 했다.

올해 조성되는 장성․철암권 힐링숲길은 평생학습관에서 일광마을을 지나 장성 이중교와 구문소 및 철암단풍군락지 등 주요 관광지를 경유하여 통리 오로라파크까지 연결되는 구간으로 약 28억 원의 예산이 투입되어 기존의 마을길 등을 포함 총 32.8km 구간에 숲길이 조성될 예정이라고 했다.

태백시는 타당성 평가 및 실시설계용역을 시작으로 주민설명회와 노선확정을 통해 5월경 본격적인 사업을 추진할 계획이라고 전했다.

태백시장은 “ ‘황지천∼철암천 힐링숲길 조성’을 통해 시민과 태백을 찾는 관광객이 자연에서 휴양 공간을 접할 수 있어 힐링 도시 조성에 큰 기여를 할 것으로 기대된다”며 “앞으로도 지역 산림휴양시설 확충에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
