[김현우 기자 = 경기북부/강원] 속초시가 영랑호 산책로의 야간 조명환경 개선을 위해 그동안 연차적으로 추진해 온 노후 가로등 교체사업을 상반기 중 완료할 계획이라고 밝혔다.

그동안 속초시는 기존 영랑호 산책로가 벚나무에 의해 빛 가림으로 야간 조명 사각지대가 발생하는 문제점이 있어 2020년부터 영랑호변 노후 가로등 교체사업을 추진했으며, 현재까지 노후 가로등 총 90기를 산책로에 걸맞은 낮은 공원 등기구 형태의 가로등으로 교체하고 설치간격을 좁힘으로써 야간 보행환경을 개선해왔다고 했다. 

이번에는 스토리 자전거 대여소 ~ 동부아파트 갈림길, 영랑호 별장 키 회수 초소 ~ 영랑교 등 총 2개 구간에 350백만원을 투자하여 총 105기를 교체하는 등 영랑호 산책로 조명 개선사업을 조속히 마무리하여 시민과 관광객들이 야간에 보다 안전하게 이용할 수 있도록 할 계획이라고 했다.

원철호 시 건축과장은“앞으로도 지속적인 야간 조명환경 개선을 통해 안전한 속초시가 되는데 최선의 노력을 다하겠다.”라고 말했다.
